VW's Jetta GLI pricing makes it a relative bargain

When the new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta was revealed (pictured above), we were a bit disconcerted by some of the changes. It seemed to be softer, and was reverting back to a more primitive torsion-beam rear axle. And those changes also had us a bit concerned about the upcoming VW Jetta GLI. But it seems we shouldn't be too worried, since it will instead get some major improvements.
The German stalwart may need to watch its back.
Rainer Michel, Vice President of Product Marketing & Strategy at Volkswagen of America, stopped by the AOL offices today for a chat about what VW has on tap for the 2013 model year. Volkswagen is excellent at coming up with loopy, memorable commercials, especially the kind that are best described with the phrase, "You'll just have to see it." Looking in that direction is a set of four ads called Fast vs. Fast, in which the some of the family wares need to prove their speed by lapping a track faster than some unconventional competition.
Consumer Reports and the 2012 Honda Civic haven't had the best of relationships. The model failed to earn the publication's coveted "recommended" designation for the first time in the vehicle's history after an extensive redesign, but CR has found space in its heart for the 2012 Civic SI.
